This was supposed to be a recipe for a healthy purple cabbage salad to be served alongside your BBQ. But Beer Can Cabbage?! It totally caught our attention and we wanted to share it!
Ingredients:
1 large Purple Cabbage
2 tablespoons Oil
1/2 teaspoon Sea Salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground Black Pepper
1 can Pale Lager (or any beer!)
2 cups BBQ Sauce
Directions:
Prepare a grill for medium-high heat. Cut a 3×3″ square around core of cabbage at the base. Carefully remove core with knife and create a cavity big enough to hold the beer can
Coat cabbage with oil, then season with salt and pepper
Drink half of the beer (It’s part of the recipe :D). Place beer can in cavity of cabbage so cabbage sits upright. Transfer to grill
Using brush, generously coat cabbage with 3 Tbsp. barbecue sauce
Cover grill and cook cabbage, brushing with remaining sauce every 15 minutes (about 50 minutes in total). The cabbage should be tender when pierced
Remove cabbage from grill and discard can. Slice the cabbage and toss with BBQ sauce. Use in a burger or in a HEALTHY salad
